Life story
April 10, 1975

Adebowale Olamide Adelekan was born on April 10, 1975 in Washington, DC USA to Late Rev. (Prof) Alfred Adelekan ( of the Giesi Royal family of Ile-Ife, Osun State) and Mrs. Bernice Adelekan (Daughter of late High Chief Adaja  C.O. Awosika of Ondo Kingdom, Ondo State).

Bowale, along with his parents and siblings, moved to Lagos, Nigeria in the fall of 1977 and settled in Kano, Nigeria shortly after. He attended his primary education at Air Force Primary School, Kano and his secondary education at Bayero University Staff Secondary School, Kano, St. Thomas’ Secondary School, Kano, and Ondo Grammar School, Ondo. He relocated back to the US in 1994 where he continued his tertiary education at Prince George’s Community College and Bowie State University, Maryland USA respectively.

He worked briefly at Comcast Corporation as a Customer Relations Representative, but Bowale being Bowale, wanting to “fly like a bird, and be free” resigned and moved to Chicago, Illinois briefly staying with his cousin Mrs. Tope Akinde while searching for an “out of the box” life experience. He settled for being a logistic subcontractor which satisfied his love of driving, travel, and independence.

Bowale met Ms. Olatokunbo Morafa through a mutual friend in the summer of 2000. They dated and got married in 2009.  Although the marriage was short lived, it was blessed with a daughter; Ms. Anjolaoluwa Adelekan.  A few years later, Bowale  met Ms. Abiodun Semilore (also through a mutual friend) on one of his visits to Nigeria, and was instantly smitten at first sight. He pursued her tirelessly and upon finally wearing her down, they got married in 2015. The marriage was blessed with a boy; Zachariah (AKA ZiBo) and a girl; Zariah (AKA ZiBi) ages 3 and 1 respectively.  Bowale was currently working on bringing his family here to join him in the United States.

Bowale was a lover of life. He wanted everyone happy, having fun and not sweating the little things. He went out of his way to put a smile on people’s faces and didn’t think anything was too big to give or do for anyone in need around him.. He detested hypocrisy and would lose his cool in situations where he felt such was being perpetuated. Bowale loved family and couldn’t comprehend why families did not get along.

BOLEEE ( BO-LAY) as his father would call him, will be terribly missed. Hence it is of little surprise the effect his sudden passing has had on those who knew him.

Continue to Rest in peace Omo Ologbenla, Omo Shiroko, Omo-Oba Ile Ife. Omo Sasere Okurin, Omo Sasere Obirin, Omo Adaja. You will be greatly missed. ADIEU!!!
